Proper safety training is essential for workers exposed to fall hazards and hazardous gases like hydrogen sulfide (H₂S). Our Fall Protection & H₂S Safety Training programs help workers comply with Canadian occupational health and safety regulations and reduce the risks of serious workplace accidents. These courses follow guidelines from WorkSafeBC, Alberta OHS, Ontario’s Ministry of Labour, and the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS).

Fall Protection Training

Falls are one of the leading causes of workplace injuries and fatalities in Canada. The Fall Protection Training course is designed for workers who operate at heights, including those in construction, roofing, scaffolding, and industrial maintenance.

What You’ll Learn:

  • WorkSafeBC, Alberta OHS, and Ontario OHS fall protection regulations
  • Proper use and inspection of fall protection systems (harnesses, lanyards, anchors)
  • Ladder safety and scaffolding setup
  • Hazard identification and risk assessment
  • Emergency procedures for fall-related incidents

This certification is required for workers operating at heights of three metres (10 feet) or higher in most Canadian provinces.

H₂S Safety Training (Hydrogen Sulfide Awareness & Response)

Hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) is a highly toxic and flammable gas commonly found in the oil and gas, mining, and wastewater treatment industries. This H₂S Safety Training course provides essential knowledge for recognizing, preventing, and responding to H₂S exposure in the workplace.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Properties and hazards of H₂S gas
  • How to detect H₂S and use monitoring equipment
  • Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and respirators
  • Emergency response procedures, including evacuation and rescue techniques
  • Provincial safety regulations and industry best practices

This course follows Energy Safety Canada (ESC) and WorkSafeBC requirements and is mandatory for workers in high-risk industries.

Who Should Take These Courses?

  • Construction and industrial workers
  • Oil and gas industry employees
  • Utility and wastewater treatment workers
  • Supervisors and safety officers
  • Anyone working at heights or in H₂S-prone environments

Why Choose Our Fall Protection & H₂S Safety Training?

  • Meets Canadian OHS requirements in BC, Alberta, Ontario, and across Canada
  • Hands-on learning with real-world safety scenarios
  • Certification recognized by employers and regulatory bodies
  • Flexible training options (in-person and blended learning available)

  • FALL PROTECTION

This course introduces the basic principles of fall prevention and protection, as well as types of fall protection systems available and the most appropriate use of each of them.  It also covers requirements to comply with current international standards in fall protection. This is an introductory course only.  Participants in this course will be considered trained in the use of fall protective equipment but will not be considered competent or qualified to install an engineered fall arrest system without further practical training and field experience.  Likewise, all persons must be further trained to use fall arrest equipment in strict adherence with individual manufacturers’ instructions and according to safe work practices.

    Course Content:

    • Explain why fall protection measures are important on the worksite
    • Reference the sections of the WorkSafe Occupational Health and Safety code that pertain to fall protection in British Columbia
    • Identify work situations that require fall protection measures be taken
    • Understand ways of eliminating or controlling fall hazards
    • Explain the importance of proper planning and determine when proper planning is being applied on a worksite
    • Identify fall hazards and recommend appropriate fall protection and fall arrest measures
    • Explain when an emergency rescue plan is required

Duration – 8 hours (this course may run longer with more than 12 students)
Number of Participants – Maximum 16
Certifying Body – Fall Protection Group /Domcor Health, Safety & Security Inc.
